Annual General Meeting

Virtual Meeting Through ZOOM

 26th October 2020 7pm

All inhabitants of the parish of High Halden are invited to the High Halden War Memorial Hall’s AGM. This is an opportunity to hear about:

  • what has gone on over the past 12 months (including updates on the impact of COVID 19, improvements at the hall & the kitchen project)
  • the hall’s financial position
  • what is planned for the coming period

Input, feedback and ideas from those who have or have not used the hall are needed to allow decisions and the management of this important village facility to evolve and meet the changing needs of the village.

Elections to the management committee will be held during the meeting. Whilst we have some nominations, we very much need new people on the committee to bring fresh ideas and perspectives and to ensure that the committees reflects the makeup of the village community.

UPDATE 25TH AUGUST 2020

The hall management committee is pleased to announce that the hall will begin a staged reopening from the 1st September.  In line with government Guidance and supplementary guidance from ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) COVID 19 guidelines and processes, to ensure that the hall can open safely and be COVID secure, have been agreed. A risk assessment has been completed and the appropriate sanitisation, cleaning and PPE equipment are available.

These guidelines and the opening will be kept under close review but we hope that we will be able to extend the opening over the coming weeks and months. Any requests for hire will be considered against these guidelines.

The High Halden War Memorial Hall was opened in 1921 and since then has provided a venue and facility for the residents of High Halden and its surrounds. The Hall is a registered charity (charity number 213310) and is run on a day to day basis by a management committee of trustees. The trustees are all volunteers and either represent a village organisation which uses the hall or who are elected at the AGM in October. 

The governing document of the charity, dated 26th April 1955, includes the objective:

“The land with the building thereon………. to be used as a public or village hall for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of High Halden and its immediate vicinity…..”        

The management committee work to manage the affairs of the charity in line with the governing document and relevant legislation.
