War Memorial Hall

Annual General Meeting

Tuesday 26th October 2021 7pm

All inhabitants of the parish of High Halden are invited to the High Halden War Memorial Hall’s AGM. This is an opportunity to hear about:

  • what has gone on over the past 12 months (including updates on the impact of COVID 19, improvements at the hall & the kitchen project)
  • the hall’s financial position
  • what is planned for the coming period

Input, feedback and ideas from those who have or have not used the hall are needed to allow decisions and the management of this important village facility to evolve and meet the changing needs of the village.

Elections to the management committee will be held during the meeting. Whilst we have some nominations, we very much need new people on the committee to bring fresh ideas and perspectives and to ensure that the committee reflects the makeup of the village community.

UPDATE July 2021

Following our phased reopening of the hall since May 17th, in line with the government roadmap, the trustees are pleased to confirm that the hall is now open largely as usual for regular and private bookings.  However we do ask that all hirers/users respect people’s personal choices regarding masks, social distancing and their own well-being.  People using the hall will have very different feelings, concerns and reactions to the unlocking. So please do respect each other's feelings and responses. Everyone should continue to feel safe and welcome at the hall. The QR code is still in place and all users are asked to use hand sanitiser and/or wash their hands regularly.

The High Halden War Memorial Hall was opened in 1921 and since then has provided a venue and facility for the residents of High Halden and its surrounds. The Hall is a registered charity (charity number 213310) and is run on a day to day basis by a management committee of trustees. The trustees are all volunteers and either represent a village organisation which uses the hall or who are elected at the AGM in October. 

The governing document of the charity, dated 26th April 1955, includes the objective:

“The land with the building thereon………. to be used as a public or village hall for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of High Halden and its immediate vicinity…..”        

The management committee work to manage the affairs of the charity in line with the governing document and relevant legislation.
