Welcome Rev. Suzanne Rose as Rector of the Benefice
High Halden Village
Follwing her licensing ceremony on the 7th October, Rev. Suzanne Rose, new Rector of the Benefice of Bethersden, High Halden and Woodchurch sent out the following messege.
Thank-you so much for the welcome we have received since we moved into the Rectory. My Husband Mike and I have settled in well and we are very much enjoying being surrounded by such beautiful countryside.
On Wednesday 7th October, it was a great privilege to have been licensed as the Rector of Bethersden with High Halden and Woodchurch. Even though we were relatively small in number, I was blessed to have my daughter and her partner, a close friend, and quite a number of representatives from each of the three parishes. The licensing service has a number of legal aspects, and I was collated by Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin who gave an inspiring sermon, and installed and inducted by Archdeacon Darren Miller and the Rural Dean Alex Bienfait formally welcomed me. Mike was also delighted to be presented with his PTO licence which means he is able to minister in the Benefice and elsewhere in the Diocese of Canterbury It was a wonderful service, and I would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation and preparation of the church, and those who attended in person, and also on Zoom.
We will be starting services in church again now – details to follow - and the Church Wardens and I will be ensuring we have safe “Covid secure” churches for you to worship in. At the moment it would be helpful if you could let me or Church Warden or PCC know if you are planning to attend a service if you don’t normally come. You will be very welcome, but we are having to carefully manage our capacity and seating to maintain social distancing; you will need to wear a mask at this time.
I am very excited about discovering what God is calling us to do together. I hope to meet as many people as I can over the coming weeks, either face-to-face, Facetime, Zoom, on the Phone – there will be letters and emails too. Please always feel free to contact me; especially if you are worried about something or need to ask a question. My day off is Friday, but other days I will get back to you as soon as I can if you leave me a message. You will find my contact details on the [Benefice] website [and below]
