A message from Pauline Rose – co-ordinator of the High Halden “Covid 19” Community Group. 7th April 2020

“Since its start on Friday the 13th March, the High Halden Covid 19 Community Group has grown quickly. There are now 50+ volunteers helping their neighbours and others throughout the parish. The original group is now working in partnership with ABC and the Parish Council. A steering group meets online every Saturday to discuss issues that have arisen, problem solve and share information. This group is made up of members of the Parish Council, Borough Council, St. Marys Church, High Halden School and the HH Events Committee.
Volunteers are helping with shopping, getting prescriptions and befriending those who are isolated/ lonely or just need to hear a friendly voice. New friendships are being forged and support networks widened. We are also working to support shielded individuals alongside their carers and families.
High Halden is an incredible place to live, within moments of a call going out for volunteers we were inundated with offers of help. Our community cares, we should all be proud of that.”

If you need support or to contact the volunteers the contact details (phone numbers and an email address) are on the HH “COVID 19” Community Group page.

Easter 2020 Competition

Please help us brighten up our new village website by entering our competition. This competition is open to young residents of the village or children who belong to High Halden Village organisations aged up to 12.

All you need to do is create something on the theme of either:

It can be a painting, drawing, a short story, a poem, a limerick or a photo or anything else you can think of to do (within the social distancing restrictions) and which can be emailed to [email protected]

Small prizes will be awarded for the entries which are judged to be the most imaginative or creative in each of the following age groups:

  • Up to 3 years old
  • 4 to 6years old
  • 7 to 9 years old
  • 10 to 12 years old

We will try to show all entries on the village website. Remember we want to “cheer up” the village.

Entries should be emailed to [email protected] and must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 14th April. Don’t forget to show the entrants name and age. The winners will be announced by Tuesday 21st April. The judging panel will be Marianne Ball, Marcia Mitchell and Kim Buggins and their decisions will be final!!

A number of local Businesses continue to offer a range of services. There is a list under Covid 19 links and info. If this information needs updating please let us know via the contact page on the website. Please please remember when visiting any of the businesses to respect social distancing and the measures taken by the businesses to keep their customers and their staff safe.

One Stop is having some varying closing times. So that you do not make a wasted journey, keep an eye on the Village Facebook page for instant updates.

Clap for the NHS and Key Workers

People from across the village took part in the Second “clap for the NHS and key workers” last Thursday evening at 8pm. The messages on the village Facebook page clearly show how much this moment of togetherness means to many residents and how it is appreciated by the key workers from our village and beyond. No doubt many will be out again this Thursday to show their gratitude and camaraderie.
